Description: Replacement of Ice Rink Installation
Alexandra Palace Ice Rink is part of the iconic Grade II listed North London Alexandra Palace complex, otherwise known as ‘the Peoples Palace’. The Palace originally installed the Ice Rink in 1990 and the building became listed five years later in 1995. The original rink was not insulated under, causing the clay sub soil to freeze and heave, splitting the structure.
Lengard, working closely with engineers Furness Partnership, supported the rink with 80 concrete piles up to 22 metres deep to punch through the permafrost layer and provide robust foundations.
