Corporate Social & Environmental Responsibility

Lengard have always demonstrated strong corporate and social values, and remain true to that principle.

In the pursuit of achieving carbon neutrality, Lengard have worked closely with Waste Recycling Action Plan (WRAP) in specifying and promoting sustainable construction materials with recycled content. WRAP also sets the highest standards in waste measurement and waste management.

With company-wide accreditation of ISO14001, awarded in 2006, Lengard´s systems and procedures are underpinned by solid environmental best practice. This ensures Lengard purchase materials from sustainable sources, and use and promote recycled content and non-harmful materials, and that our supply chain can demonstrate a clear chain of custody.

Lengard have been installing photovoltaic solar panels for over five years and promote renewable energy and energy reduction. Through involvement with National Energy Action, Lengard further supports the need for improved thermal insulation standards for low-income households.

Lengard have helped pioneer environmental benchmarking; we continue to analyse our building and demolition waste, comparing our findings against national industry standards. Lengard are piloting an alternative form of benchmarking that is specific to the refurbishment sector. Lengard´s average recycled material percentage is 70%, thanks our waste transfer partners who carefully isolate non-recyclable materials.

In November 2006, Lengard presented to the ´Contracts Journal, Corporate Social Responsibility Conference on a Small to Medium Enterprise’s (SME) perspective on CSR, promoting industry best practice.

In terms of social responsibility, Lengard nominated CARE INTERNATIONAL as the charity of choice for 2007. A team of Lengard employees took on the challenge of climbing the 3 PEAKS of Great Britain in just 24 hours, raising £9,600 in the process.
