Client: Bracknell Forest Council
Programme: 25 weeks
Description: Refurbishment and Alteration
Refurbishment and alteration works to a dilapidated former adult education facility, converting the building to provide a special education needs facility for 56 young people with autism spectrum disorders.
The new centre features classrooms, small group rooms, medical, interview and meeting rooms, and staff accommodation.
Specialist rooms include art, food technology kitchen, ICT, music and multi-sensory facilities. A new commercial kitchen was created and the hall/dining room completely refurbished. The building benefits from new insulated roof coverings, windows, cladding, entrance canopy and access ramp.
A VE exercise produced a cost saving of £150k on the original contract sum.
