Lengard has been appointed by the London Borough of Lambeth to refurbish Kingswood Primary School in West Norwood.
A vacant Victorian School on a sloping multi-level site, Kingswood has neighbouring residential units opposite and to the left, a Pupil Referral Unit to the right and a railway line behind.
The works comprise:
A complete internal refurbishment including stripping out all existing furniture and wall, floor and ceiling coverings and replacement with new.
Extensive brickwork and roofing repairs with all existing timber sash windows being replaced with new aluminium windows (circa 200No windows), new rainwater gutters and downpipes and new fascia and soffits.
The mechanical package is a complete strip out and replace with new, and the electrical is to be a cut and carve on new and existing.
The external works involve complete new drainage to the building and incoming electrical works and will reduce levels to the entire site.
The formation of three new playground areas which include specialist play equipment.
There is also some structural glazed balustrading to one side of the building.
The project duration is 29 weeks and it is valued at £2.9m.
