Project Description

Introduction:

Park West Place contains 560 apartments in nine interconnecting blocks, 10 shops and ground floor offices. During the 1960’s Park West Place was synonymous with the rich and famous, one of the first lease holder blocks of its generation that had a health club, including squash courts, in-door swimming pool and gymnasium.

The Challenge:

Park West Place created huge challenges. Working both within the buildings and externally whilst fully occupied. The buildings would be fully externally overhauled with new roofs, window repair & replacements, brick clean and repairs to both brickwork and stone masonry.  Reception lobby, staircases & corridors to all 10 blocks were internally refurbished. The buildings heating and services were completely renewed and all lift shafts would be refurbished and made fire retardant.

How Lengard Overcame:

Working closely with the client and resident committee members Lengard carefully phased the works over the four year period to minimise impact and noise levels on leaseholders. Over three phases, works started with roof renewals, demolition and rebuilding of parapet walls, repairs to structural steelwork and cracked brickwork, external redecoration, replacement of metal windows, and damp-proofing.  Phases II and III consisted of supplying all apartments with new mechanical mains supplies using the Georg Fischer system and the vast refurbishment & decoration of the communal areas.
