Project Description

Introduction:

Whitehall Court is a prestigious 9-storey Grade II listed property close to Downing Street, West London. The building was subjected to substantial fire damage effecting  flats 2A & 2B and the timber framed spire structure over the eighth and ninth floors.

The Challenge:

Lengard were contracted to remove the damaged building fabric and rebuild the internal structure and re-establishing what was previously the communal area and dwellings. The damaged tower roof structure was carefully dismantled under structural support & then re-constructed and supported from high strength structurally engineered timber.

 How Lengard Overcame:

Heritage considerations were significant in the planned refurbishment of this magnificent building; Lengard worked closely with English Heritage and the structural engineers to ensure the building’s original character and design were preserved.  The project team worked closely with the Client & structural engineers to recreate much of the original structure finished design.

Lengard’s buying department also played their part in sourcing materials that met English Heritage’s exacting specification. Following the successful reinstatement of the fire-damaged sections, Lengard refurbished and cleaned the building’s exterior.  All work was completed with residents in occupation.
