Project Description
| Introduction:Lengard were contacted directly by London & Quadrant (L&Q) to tender this project having seen previous work of ours in the London Borough of Newham. Lewisham Park is an estate of three tower blocks, originally under the control of Lewisham Council but, following a stock transfer ballot of the residents, had subsequently transferred to London & Quadrant Housing Trust. Due to a pre-longed landlord handover the estate had suffered some neglect and the Trust were to invest in a comprehensive external refurbishment programme to regenerate the whole estate.
The Challenge: L&Q contracted Lengard through PQS Martin Associates to deliver external fabric repairs, both and concrete and brick and redecorate. The roof was to be renewed and each balcony was refurbished and waterproofed. All windows were replaced and the communal areas were decorated and further external environmental works were undertaken to the adjacent garage block. How Lengard Overcame: Each tower block was subject to a full elevation scaffolding each side, accessible with a twelve man passenger hoist used to deliver materials to each level. The project was phased in four parts the last being the environmental upgrade of the garage roofs using bauder seedom live roofs. New triple glazed windows were installed significantly improving the thermal efficiency of the building. The project programme went precisely to plan to the approval and commendation of the Client & professional team. The estate was officially handed over by the Mayor of Lewisham who praised Lengard for their professionalism and timeliness. |
