Description: Residential Heritage Restoration of a Fire Damaged Grade II* Listed Building
Lengard undertook two contracts, firstly to reinstate the fire-damaged two top floors, including tower, secondly to clean and refurbish the exterior. Because of its listed status, we worked very closely with English Heritage on all aspects of the works.
The reconstruction of the tower proved challenging as none of the original plans had survived and we had to use the same techniques and materials as the original craftsmen in order to faithfully recreate the structure.
The original BC Pine was no longer available, so Lengard sourced Southern Yellow Pine which was the only seasoned timber available in the 40’ lengths needed.
All work was completed with residents in occupation.
